(More customer reviews)I am writing to inform anyone thinking about buying a zCover skin for their ipod video or nano that your ipod WILL be scratched after using this product. This product DOES NOT protect your ipod like the company advertises.
I have been using a black zCover skin with my 30 Gig ipod video for about 3 months. The ipod started brand new and is now more scratched than I was expecting. There are major problems with this product.
First, the zCover clear plastic screen protector falls out of place very regularly. If you attach the ipod to your belt using the clip you will find that the cover falls off and your screen will be scratched. (In my case, deeply gouged)
Second, dust WILL get under the skin and act as a sandpaper-like abrasive to your ipod. Your ipod will move around inside the skin and the dust in-between will scratch. The resulting damage is worse than normal scratching that would occur through moderate handling with out a case of any kind.
Third, the zCover belt clip will destroy the back chrome surface of your ipod. Although the clip is strong, it is poorly designed. The clip has two plastic pieces to it, interior and exterior. The visible exterior clip is attached to a long flat piece on the interior that sticks through the skin. This interior piece is almost as long as the clip and is in direct contact with the back of your ipod. The edges of this plastic piece as well as the embossed zCover insignia scratch a pattern into the chrome.
Do not buy this product to protect your ipod from scratches. There may not be a sure-fire way of completely protecting these MP3 players but you could do a lot better. In my opinion, a skin cover is definately not they way to go. Dust is their enemy. Unless the skin is "painted" on, it's going to scratch. The zCover's protection is unacceptable. I was a victim of false advertising. Get yourself an attractive leather portfolio and stay clear of these goofy looking abominations.
