(More customer reviews)I was very excited about this new phone system and all the wonderful features. I waited for weeks, then rush on the internet. Having use it for few days, I am quite deceived:
- The sound is so-so, it is sometime hard to understand people talking. Setting it to high make a slight "hum"
- The handset display is nearly unreadable, too bright with too thin fonts.
- Setting the phone is quite complicated (as compare to my former Panasonic)
- There a lot of frill options, but some other lacking (setting the display light for instance).
- At every power failure, the answering machine to be reset (how modern!),
- The speakerphone sound is "humming"
So, it is far from the description on the box.
I'd rather go for a 5,8 technology and another ... and wished I had buy it at Wal-Mart, so I could return it hassle free. But I didn't.

The GE DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Digital Answerer and Caller ID gives you an expandable cordless phone system with no interference: Its DECT 6.0 technology uses a frequency band that doesn't interfere with wireless home networking systems. A cordless base station and a cordless handset with charger are included. Each base station can accommodate up to four handsets. You can use the intercom feature to converse between handsets or between the handset and base without using a phone line.
A digital answering machine is built into the base station and features 15 minutes of recording time, remote message retrieval, a message counter, and a new message indicator. The phone has a caller ID feature that can display the name and number of incoming calls even when you're already on the phone. This information--and more--is displayed on a backlit LCD that has a multilingual message display. You can also assign unique ringtones to different numbers, which means you'll know who is calling without getting up. The GE DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone is backed by a 1-year warranty.
